ESTABLISHED, MAJOR, PAID WRITERS

OTHER PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

1. If your experience level is not quite Jim Derogatis or Greg Kot level but previous nonetheless, send me a short e-mail describing what type of music you like and the last few CDs you purchased. Give me a few desert island discs and briefly tell me why one is the clear favorite or why you pick the CDs in no particular order. This doesn't have to be a thesis. I just want to see what you care about, because if the e-mail is a hassle, you probably are not interested enough to submit anything that is worthwhile.

2. Then:

a. refer me to urls of the work (preferred); or

b. attach at least one but no more than three examples of your best work in Word format, any version, including WordPad, or as a .txt or .rtf document.

c. tell me in an e-mail if you'd like to do a monthly column, how you envision a monthly column and what you would want to write about.

NO EXPERIENCE

If you have no experience and are seeking an opportunity:

1. Send me a short e-mail describing what type of music you like and the last few CDs you purchased. Give me a few desert island discs and briefly tell me why one is the clear favorite or why you pick the CDs in no particular order. This doesn't have to be a thesis. I just want to see what you care about, because if the e-mail is a hassle, you probably are not interested enough to submit anything that is worthwhile.

2. by e-mail, drop names of friends who you think will impress me;

3. by e-mail, send me your review of any recording that matters to you in Word format, any version, including WordPad, or as a .txt or .rtf document.

If you have no experience and we decide to accept your work, I will need you to listen to at least 5 submitted recordings a month to start. You will have no obligation to review anything, but I will ask you to report back to me by the 1st when you listened and why the recording failed to cut it in at least a few sentences a recording. Once you have submitted and I have accepted at least 6 reviews over a two month period, I will give you the opportunity to do a monthly column for us. Remember, you can review anything, but you will have to listen to at least 5 a month of what we send you.
