Recommendations: Modern Garage/British R & B/ '60s Punk
Revivalists
The Crawdaddys: 5 X 4
(EP) These guys did it right down to every detail. They were
'60s British R & B. True experts at what they embodied,
there may never be a band of the modern era this close to
what was going on in '60s London with bands like the Pretty
Things and the Downliners Sect.
The Fleshtones: Roman Gods
One of the great live bands of the '80s, the 'Tones led the
garage revival. This major label debut is good, but does not
approach the controlled insanity of the band live. Get this
if you can find it.
The Lyres: On Fyre Intense,
organ driven '60s punk from an important band to this genre.
The Chesterfield Kings: Here Are...
(1983) An absolute perfectly authentic collection of '60s
punk cover gems. Awesome if you can find it.
NOTE: Another category that will be expanded to include many
more recordings.
