Eight Questions
for Tim Anthony
by Gary Pig Gold
In the snap-happy global playpen which is
the home-grown, bedroom and basement-recorded domain of the
one-man bandwagon, Syracuse's very own Tim Anthony most rightfully
rests head and high shoulders above the usual three-part,
four-to-the-bar Power-popping practitioner. And his latest
Jealousy Records release, The Happy Door, sure does
prove it
and THEN some indeed.
A dozen songs, craftily arranged and expertly...

Chicago Blues
by Mike Bennett

I've lived in the Chicago area for most of
my life, and actually in the city since 1993. Like many suburbanites,
I moved up to the north side of the city. It's not as gritty
or urban, for the most part, as the rest of the city. You
can find blues on the north side. Indeed, the north side is
full of popular blues clubs, especially on Halsted Street,
just north of the heart of the yuppie-filled Lincoln Park

Of course, being an indie rock fan, I'm also a blues snob.

Further Observations From
A Jangly Music Fan
by Eric Sorensen

March got off to a slow start in terms of
new, jangly music
but the month concluded with a tremendous
amount of catchy tunes that should appeal to pseudo-60s pop
fans and jangleholics. New discs and songs that are worthy

Brothers In Stereo - by Brothers In Stereo.
Wow! A 2003 release by brothers Chris and Andrew Ledrew on
a Canadian label, with National Jangle Music, Ltd. copyrighting
this disc. Chiming, ringing and jangling 12-string riffs abound
on the thirteen original tracks
with songs like "The
Worst Crowd," "January" and "Heartbreak's
On Its Way" all...

So Much Music, So Little
Time
By Kevin Mathews
I apologize in advance if this month's column
goes past like a blur as I dive deep into a mountain of CDs
that have simply been overflowing from 2005 and I'd feel guilty
for not addressing them in some way. Thanks for your kind
indulgence.
Yeah, you know the drill. I come across really
cool alt-country and I get all misty-eyed about Gram and Gene.
Maybe throw in a reference or two about Neil. So sue me. Rich
McCulley continues in his rich vein of form with Far From
My Angel (Self released) - another sublime collection
of country-rock gems that fans of the genre will enjoy. Can
I also mention Dylan, Petty and McGuinn? www.richmcculley.com
Awfully pretentious lyrics and disturbing...
