Eight Questions
for Greg Prevost, Chesterfield King
The Chesterfield Kings, besides
most adroitly picking straight up where Between The Buttons
once left off, have gone and produced their very own
Monkee-worthy television spectacular Where Is The Chesterfield
King? , given The Pendletones a run for their sand dollar
with that ho-dad-stomping masterpiece Surfin Rampage
, provided no less than Mark Lindsay with his rough n
tumblest back-up combo since the Spirit of 67
Raiders themselves, and now have their latest and greatest-ever
platter The Mindbending Sounds of The Chesterfield Kings
available in whats left of a record store right near
you.
(and Speaking of which, I
recently had the supreme pleasure of witnessing the C.Kings
perform at the Virgin Megastore within the true heart of Times
Square, NYC: Watching unsuspecting tourists descend the escalators
to the strains of a rousing vintage-03 Midnight
Rambler was several notches above and beyond sublime,
yessir!)
And so, defiantly entering his third decade as the undisputed
Voice behind Rochester, New Yorks most under-sung heroes,
Greg gamely takes bait to tell us all:
1. Munsters or Addams
Family: Which ones for you, and Why?
Actually The Munsters,
because it was a logical extension of one of my
fave shows, Car 54, Where Are You? The Addams Family
was OK,
especially Carolyn Jones (the main reason to watch
it!), but overall
though, Munsters.
2. Who in the world, living or dead, would you most like to
play a game of
Twister with?
Anne Francis, Beverly Garland,
Nancy Sinatra, Bethel Leslie
..
3. How many Sid King & The Five Strings records do you
own?
I dont know!!
4. Got any good Dee Dee Ramone stories?
Not really.
5. Ginger or Mary-Ann: Which ones
for you, and for How Long?
When the show was on in
65 - 66, I was eleven - twelve. Ginger was my
fave. Looking at it now though, I would have to go with Mary-Ann:
What a
doll!
6. What single song, living or dead, do you most wish youd
written
and Why Didnt You?
Too many to wish that, but
Id have to say the Theme from Ben-Hur, or
possibly Mozarts 19th.
7. Whose guitar would you most like to be reincarnated as?
To reinstate: is the question
Who are some of my fave guitarists? Jeff
Beck, Randy Holden, Jimmy Page, Leigh Stevens, Jorma Kaukonen,
Keith
Richard, Ron Wood
..
8. In 2000 words or less, Your Hopes, Aspirations and Goals,
musical and otherwise, for your life and your
country?
To have every TV
show from 1947 to 1967!
